If you gamble and play the casino or poker online in Denmark, you better watch out, because they are watching things very closely in that country to make sure that people are not gambling. In Denmark, it is against the law to gamble professionally or to make a living from gambling. One man that lived in Denmark recently found that out.
There was a 35 year old man that had been playing poker and other online casino games for awhile. The main reason why he was doing that was because he was unemployed and needed the money. Gambling online helped him earn that money, and he was able to pay off his bills and other expenses. Because he was using it as his profession and not working, they considered that illegal and against Denmark’s laws.
The man was fined the $38,000 that he earned while playing poker and gambling online. The man’s name is not mentioned for identity protection reasons. The court feels that is a small price for him to pay for breaking the laws in Denmark, and they hope that it will help send out a message that they aren’t joking about online gambling. If they catch you gambling and you’re doing it to make a living, they will fine you.
Each case is different. Just because one person might get a huge fine for gambling or playing poker online, doesn’t mean the next one will. It all depends on why they are gambling and how many times they actually gambled online. They have had a huge problem with people gambling online and doing it as their job instead of working. This is the second case in the past few months in which they have had to fine someone. They had to fine someone that had been at it longer than the 35 year old man and was also considered an organizer of the poker tournaments. The court did charge him with something, but they did not charge him with gambling online. Regardless, he still had to pay a high price for his actions.
It is believed that there are around 50,000 people that gamble by playing the online casinos and online poker, regardless of the recent laws in a lot of states. The websites are working hard with the court system to help try and keep some of the US members from being able to join, but it’s very hard for them, because players sometimes use proxy’s and other tools in order to illegally access the site.
A lot of US members are very frustrated and mad because of all the new laws about gambling and playing poker or the casinos online. These laws aren’t really new; it’s just that they are starting to really crack down on violators because of a lot of scams and problems that have been happening due to people gambling online.
